About This Two-Volume Edition¶
Engineering Trustworthy Intelligent Systems was originally conceived as a single integrated body of work that follows the complete lifecycle of modern intelligent systems from conception through long-term operational stewardship.
As the scope of the material expanded, it became clear that organizing the work into two complementary volumes would improve usability while preserving the integrity of the framework.
The two volumes are not independent books. They are two parts of a single professional body of work.
Volume I establishes the engineering foundation. It teaches how trustworthy intelligent systems are conceived, planned, designed, governed, built, validated, and prepared for release.
Volume II transitions from construction into operational reality. It teaches how systems are operated, governed, observed, sustained, improved, and stewarded throughout their lifecycle.
Although each volume may serve different professional audiences, they are designed to work together as a complete engineering reference.
Throughout both volumes, a single principle remains constant:
Trust is engineered continuously through evidence, governance, and human stewardship.
The ETIS framework views trustworthy intelligent systems as living systems that require continuous engineering attention rather than one-time technical achievements.
Readers are encouraged to approach the two volumes as a connected professional journey rather than separate learning experiences.
